# Citations and claims

> See which sources AI engines rely on and whether the claims they make about your brand are supported.

Mentions tell you that a brand appeared. **Citations** tell you which sources supported the answer. **Claims** help you inspect what the answer said and whether the available evidence supports it.

## Citation analysis

Use the citation view to answer:

* Is your own site being cited?
* Which third-party domains influence the answer?
* Which engines cite you most often?
* Are competitors earning citations for prompts where you are absent?
* Is the set of sources stable or drifting?

The visibility funnel separates three different outcomes:

1. **Mentioned** — the brand appears in the answer.
2. **Cited** — a source associated with the brand supports the answer.
3. **Recommended** — the answer frames the brand as a choice or action.

These are related but not interchangeable. A brand can be mentioned without receiving a citation, or cited without being recommended.

## Claims

The Claims view organizes statements extracted from AI answers. Use it to find:

* Accurate claims worth reinforcing
* Unsupported or inconsistent claims
* Outdated descriptions
* Topics where the engine has weak evidence
* Differences between engines or prompt variants
