SEO is where you run audits, page-level optimization, technical checks, tracking, and off-page workflows for the active site.

How the SEO tab is organised

When you open the SEO tab for a site you see:
  • SEO Score history — a chart of your SEO/audit score over time, with the week-over-week change. (You’ll see a prompt to run an audit until you’ve run one.)
  • Site Health / Uptime — a live uptime percentage with quick checks for Robots.txt, Sitemap, and Sitemap Fresh status, plus an Enable Monitoring option.
  • Organic Performance — connect Google Search Console to populate impressions, clicks, and average position. There’s a Connect Search Console button if it’s not connected yet.
  • SEO Tools — a tabbed catalogue of tools (see below), with a search box to find a tool quickly.
  • Optimization Status — your current open issues (errors, warnings, opportunities) with a Run Audit button and a View Details link.
A coloured SEO score badge appears in the top-right corner.

Agency vs Autonomous mode

The SEO tab has an Agency / Autonomous toggle at the top.
  • Agency — Cleo gives you findings and recommendations. You decide what to apply, using the tool catalogue.
  • Autonomous — Cleo runs and applies fixes on its own where it’s confident, on a schedule. Use this when your CMS is connected and you want Cleo to act without your sign-off on each change.
Most teams start in Agency mode and switch to Autonomous on selected sites once they trust Cleo’s behaviour.

SEO Tools sub-tabs

The SEO Tools panel groups tools into five sub-tabs by purpose. Use the search box to jump straight to a tool by name. A lock icon means the tool is not enabled for the active site — see Plans and billing.

Audit

Broad checks that run across your whole site:
  • CLEO Audit — Cleo’s all-in-one audit of technical health, performance, and AI-readability. See Site health and audits.
  • Website Audit — full crawl-based SEO audit.
  • Crawl Stats — recent crawl behaviour and patterns.
  • Mobile Usability — checks that pages render and behave well on mobile.
  • Daily Monitoring — continuous site monitoring.
  • Competitor Analysis — how your footprint compares to competitors.
  • Backlink Analyser — review your inbound link profile.
  • Backlink Gap Analyser — find links competitors have that you don’t.

On-Page

Page-level content and optimisation:
  • Keyword Research — find and prioritise keywords to target.
  • Content Mapping — map keywords and topics to pages.
  • Meta Tags — check, draft, and apply titles and meta descriptions.
  • Heading Tags — find missing or duplicate H1s and improve heading structure.
  • Image Alt Text — find missing alt text, draft it, and push it to your CMS.
  • Image Replacement — swap or update on-page images.
  • Content Implementation — apply on-page content changes.
  • Blog Implementation — publish and update blog content.
  • Create Page — generate a new page.
  • Content Gap — compare your content against competitors and find missing topics.

Technical

Technical SEO and structure:
  • Site Verification — generate and apply verification tags (Google Search Console, Bing, etc.).
  • Sitemap Submit — validate and submit your sitemap.
  • URL Optimisation — flag long or non-descriptive URLs and propose cleaner slugs.
  • Redirects — review and add redirects; flag chains and loops.
  • Internal Linking — map internal links, suggest new ones, and apply approved links.
  • HTML Sitemap — generate an HTML sitemap page.
  • Canonical Tags — find missing or conflicting canonicals.
  • Schema Markup — detect, draft, and apply JSON-LD (Article, Product, FAQ, Breadcrumb, Organization, LocalBusiness, etc.).
  • 404 Page — generate and apply a friendly 404 page.
  • LLM.txt — generate an llms.txt file so AI engines can find and understand your site.
  • WordPress Backup — snapshot your site before bulk changes. See WordPress and Wix.
  • Popup Manager — manage on-site popups.

Tracking

Verification, analytics, and reporting:
  • Analytics Setup — confirm your tracking code is present and configured.
  • Keyword Ranking — track Google rankings. See Keyword rankings.
  • Event Tracking — set up event tracking.
  • Thank You Pages — generate and apply thank-you pages.
  • Performance Reports — performance reporting for the site.

Off-Page

External signals:
  • Backlinking — submit your site to relevant directories and sources (limits depend on plan).
  • Image Geo Tagger — add geo metadata to images for local SEO.
The exact list of tools available depends on your plan. Tools that are not included show a 🔒 icon.

How tools work

  1. Open the site workspace and choose Channels → SEO.
  2. Use Agency mode when you want to review findings and actions manually.
  3. Pick a sub-tab (Audit / On-Page / Technical / Tracking / Off-Page) and pick the tool — or use the search box to find it by name.
  4. Confirm the URL or page (some tools work on the whole site, others on a single URL).
  5. Run. Results stream back in real time.
  6. Review findings. Where possible, the tool offers an Apply action that fixes the issue (often through a connected CMS like WordPress or Wix).
Some tools are AI-assisted (they generate content, suggestions, or rewrites). Others are pure analyses.

Running a tool: a typical flow

Example — adding alt text to images on a page:
  1. Open SEO → On-Page → Image Alt Text.
  2. Enter the page URL and run.
  3. Cleo lists every image and flags ones with missing or weak alt text.
  4. Generate — Cleo drafts alt text for each flagged image.
  5. Review and edit each suggestion as needed.
  6. Apply. If WordPress or Wix is connected, the change is pushed live; otherwise, Cleo gives you copy-ready markup.
The same pattern (analyse → generate → review → apply) is used across most tools.

Tips

  • Run CLEO Audit or Website Audit first. The findings point you at the highest-impact tools.
  • Connect a CMS (see WordPress and Wix) so Apply steps push fixes live.
  • Connect Google Search Console to populate the Organic Performance card.
  • Use Tasks to track follow-ups and Resources → Reports to share results.

When something goes wrong

  • Tool can’t reach my site: confirm the site is publicly accessible and not blocking automated requests. If it’s behind a login or staging firewall, the tool will fail.
  • Result is empty: the analyser found nothing actionable, or your site is too small for that check. Try another page.
  • Apply step fails: confirm your CMS credentials in the site’s settings and try again.
  • Tool is locked (🔒): it’s not included in your plan. See Plans and billing.
If a tool keeps failing or you can’t find one you expect to be there, contact the Cleo team at contact@regencleo.ai.
